B-17 Bellygunner, Shot down on 10/9/44 over France. POW for 13 months in Stalag 3, Stalag 1, Stalag 7 A, and Stalag 17 B; his plane was so badly shot up that the tail section fell off; he was the ball turret gunner and was hit twice by bullets, once by flak, and once when his plexiglass turret exploded; was at 25,000 feet when hit and passed out while helping another crewmember escape; he finally bailed out at about 200 feet and was injured on landing; he makes observations about the camps and tells a story about the 300 mile march to Stalag 17 B; talks about passing by Mauthausen and coming upon several prisoners; he also talks about the unofficial execution of German SS men.
