- Faught was a rifleman and saw his first action with Company F, 2nd Battalion, 141st Infantry Regiment, 36th Infantry Division in the Vosges Mountains; he recalled the fierce fighting by the Germans from their pillboxes; he experienced heavy fighting in the Colmar Pocket; a fellow soldier slipped and fell on Faught breaking his ankle; he was out of action for a few months and returned to the 36th Infantry Division just in time to cross the Danube River and go through the Death Camp in Lansburg, Germany; he continued on to Austria before returning to Germany.
