Summary:
Susumus Ito served in the Army as a forward artillery observer with the 522nd Field Artillery Battalion, 442nd Regimental Combat Team. He first saw combat at Hill 140 in the Italian campaign and was a part of the Lost Battalion action. Ito used his personal camera during the push through Germany and photographed prisoners who were recently liberated from Dachau, however, he never actually entered Dachau and is not considered a liberator.
