Samuel Brenner, known to friends and family as Sy, served in the Army as a medic in the 103rd Infantry Division and took part in combat operations in the European Theater. During one action he was captured and spent the rest of the war as a POW in Stalag 5-A. After the war, Brenner returned to the United States and was discharged with the rank of Private First Class (PFC).
