Description: This series (1 folder) consists of letters, a telegram, and postcards from Nelson "Bud" Rollins, multiple locations, to his sister, Mrs. Grace Walz, Fairfield, Alabama. The letters written between January and April were when Rollins was a Private in the 3rd Company, 4th Infantry Training Battalion at Fort Benning, Georgia. There are no letters from May or June. In July, Rollins is back in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and has been promoted to Technician Corporal (also known as a Technician Fifth Grade). There are no letters from August or September. In October, Rollins is with the 45th Division at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. He is transferred to several other camps for training throughout the rest of the year, but remains with the 45th Division.
