Description: This series (2 folders) consists of letters to Aubrey Rion, from his wife, Janette. Her letters consist of her concerns about the war, news of troop movements heard on the radio or read in newspapers, news of the home front and family events, as well as updates on their son Tommy’s growth and development. Twenty-two letters are still sealed, as they were returned as undeliverable after Aubrey Rion’s death.;Personal correspondence, photographs, and personnel file from the service of First Lieutenant Aubrey Rion, who served with the 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment and was killed in action in Bastogne, Belgium. The collection is arranged into five series: I. Personnel File, May 1942-September 1944; II. Personal correspondence from Aubrey Rion to Janette Rion, 1938-1944; III. Personal correspondence from Janette Rion to Aubrey Rion, 1943-1945; IV. Documents relating to the death of Aubrey Rion, 1944-1945; and V, Photographs.
