- 2nd Lieutenant Thomas LaHood enlisted in the United States Marines in 1942 and was assigned to the 1st Marine Division. Lt. LaHood was part of the invasion force which landed on Okinawa on April 1, 1945. He was severely wounded during the battle and evacuated from the island. He was discharged from the Marines in 1946.
