- Joseph Duran was born January 4, 1953 in Santa Paula, California. He has done extensive research on his Uncle Joseph Avendano, a Mexican American, who was a pilot with the 8th Air Force. His research has led him to discover his uncle flew missions out of England and Africa. He has also learned his uncle volunteered to fly with the Pathfinders and died in a plane crash while on a mission with the Pathfinders.
