Description: Bild 12: Gebirgstruppen, Pict.12: Mountain Troops. Mountain troops are specially equipped and trained for war in high and low mountains. They wear caps, blouses, leather trimmed trousers, wrapped leggings, mountain boots and back packs, and carry climbing sticks, ice picks, pitons and snowshoes. They are trained to deal with the perils of the mountains (avalanches and rock slides) as well as combat with the enemy. Their heavy weapons (machine guns, artillery, light mortar) are broken down into many parts and loaded onto pack animals.
