PFC Milton Treadway was born February 25, 1943 in Port Sulphur, Louisiana. He was drafted into the United State Army in 1943 and trained at Camps Beauregard and Polk. He was stationed in the Pacific. While in New Guinea he was assigned to the 10th Airborne, 188th Infantry Division. He completed his training as paratrooper in New Guinea. He remembers his first combat experience came at Leyte, Philippines where he witnessed two friends being killed. With the 188th he took part in the rescue mission which liberated the internment camp at Banos 20 miles behind enemy lines in the Philippines. All 2,300 prisoners were safely rescued. In 1946 he was discharged from the Army and returned to Port Sulphur.
