In addition to motorized units, the German army still employs cavalry for reconnaissance missions and missions that require speed, or long marches. This is essential even today. There is actually no longer mounted combat, or only in emergency situations. As a rule, the cavalryman fights on foot. Armament with all weapons of the infantry, in particular with machine guns, equips the modern mounted units for serious and sustained combat.
