Description: This series (2 sleeves) consists of letters and postcards from James Fisher Jr., Army Air Base, Lincoln, Nebraska, to his parents, Reverend James and Mrs. Nannie Fisher, Cameron, West Virginia. Several of the letters and postcards are also addressed to his sister, Dorothy, in Athens, Ohio. At the beginning of the year, Fisher had not been assigned to a unit but by mid-February he had been assigned to the 331st Headquarters. In his letters Fisher discusses paying his sister’s rent, how "mentally defective" the Secure Telephone Unit (STU) men are, getting upset at his mother for getting a job, the disposal of personnel files, the constant reassignment rumors, and how many of the servicemen he interacts with are barely literate. Also included are letters that were written to Fisher that he then enclosed in his letters to his parents; however, it is not clear when these letters were sent.;Personal correspondence from the service of Second Lieutenant James Fisher Jr. who served as a clinical psychologist in the United States Army on the Home Front.
