- Description: This series consists of 61 official United States Coast Guard photographs taken by Lloyd Durant. The bulk of the collection depicts American forces preparing for D-Day as well as the Allied invasion of Normandy. Also included are several photographs of Normandy after D-Day. All photographs were published by the Public Relations Division of the United States Coast Guard and each photograph has an official caption on its reverse. Each photograph also includes a typed personal caption that has been glued to the front. Some of the information in the personal captions may be inaccurate.;Photographs and Ration Books from the service of Lieutenant (junior grade) Lloyd Durant, who served as chief photographer in the United States Coast Guard in the European Theater of Operations. The collection is arranged into three series: I. Official United States Coast Guard photographs, 1944; II. Personal photographs, 1937-1940; and III. Ration Books, 1935-1942.
