- Description: Denny Chapman, somewhere in the Pacific, to Mrs. Stevenson, El Paso, Texas. Chapman received a Silver Star, and hopes his Mother will be proud of him when he sends it to her. He talks about his little sister going to art school, and the fact that he is not allowed to send a Japanese flag. Chapman boasts that he took Japanese insignia from two Japanese soldiers who soon after died. He says that the war was exciting in the beginning, but it has become gruesome.
