Description: This series (3 folders) consists of personal correspondence either to or from Walter Antoine. The bulk of the series consists of letters, postcards, and V-mails Antoine wrote to his wife, Marie, in Mobile, Alabama, while he was in the service. Locations while in the European Theater of Operations include England, Switzerland, and France. Also included are two letters Antoine wrote before he and Marie were married as well as sealed letters Marie wrote but were returned due to putting the wrong APO.;Military documents, personal correspondence, photographs, and souvenir items from the service of Technician Third Grade Walter Antoine, who served with the 345th Medical Dispatch and with the Medical Detachment of the 262nd Infantry Regiment in the European Theater of Operations. The collection is arranged into five series: I. Military correspondence and documents, 1943-1945; II. Personal correspondence, 1930-1945; III. Souvenirs, 1943-1945; IV. Photographs, 1943-1945; and V. Home Front.
