Description: Staff car driving though Myitkyina, Burma. Personal caption: "In the early part of 1945 Lieutenant William Hughes was at Myitkyina, Burma, when a car drove by whose passenger in the back seat was Admiral the Lord Louis Mountbatten, commanding officer of all Allied troops in Southeast Asia in World War II. Lt. Hughes took the pictures and Mountbatten can be seen most clearly (although still dimly) in the first picture. Mountbatten also was a close relative of the royal family in Great Britain."
