Description: Cards, Red Cross, New Orleans chapter, image of the Madonna, Richard McCurdy name card. (3 items). One portrait photograph of Richard McCurdy in uniform on cardboard backing (torn), one snapshot photograph of McCurdy (3.5 x 3.75), one portrait of McCurdy in uniform in metal frame. 194- (3 items). Postcards. four humorous, color postcards â€" all with correspondence on the reverse (4 items). Certificates, two Purple Heart and two presidential condolence certificates, each with the correct date McCurdy was KIA but each with an incorrect date as well. Correctly dated certificates did not arrive until 1949. (4 items);Personal correspondence, photographs, and certificates from the service of Private First Class Richard McCurdy, who was killed in action while serving with the 3rd Battalion, 6th Armored Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Division in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations. The collection is arranged into two series: I. Personal correspondence sent to the McCurdy family during World War II. 1941-45 and II. Certificates and other archival materials sent to the McCurdy family during World War II.
