- Description: This series consists of 35 letters to Miss Bernice Bohlmann, Baldwin, New York, from six different students whose surnames fall in the range of F-J. The senders are: Joe Fasanella, who wrote while training at different naval schools; Corporal Ray Fenslau, who served in the United States Navy; Private First Class Joseph Hauy who served with the 543rd Field Artillery Battalion in the Pacific Theater of Operations; Corporal John Herlihy who served with the 1828th Ordnance, Supply and Maintenance Company (AVN) in the Pacific Theater of Operations; Lieutenant Bertha Hodac, who served as a nurse in on the Aleutian Islands, Alaska; and Repair Technician Robert Jones, who served on the PC-1122 in the Pacific Theater of Operations.;Personal correspondence sent to Ms. Bernice "Bunny" Bohlmann, who was a high school teacher in Baldwin, New York. Several of Bohlmann’s former students joined the Armed Forces during World War II and wrote to her during their service. The collection is arranged into seven series: I.
