- Description: This series consists of 50 letters to Miss Bernice Bohlmann, Baldwin, New York, from eight different students or family members whose surnames fall in the range of A-D. The senders are: Sergeant Dario Antonucci, who served with the 51st Fighter Control Squadron in the China Burma India Theater of Operations; Paul P. Baudreau, United States Naval Training Station, Sampson, New York; Hospital Apprentice Carl E. Braga, who served in the Pacific Theater of Operations; Private Robert Cannan, who served with the 599th MHSP and 873rd MHSP in the European Theater of Operations; Captain Ruth Chamberlin, who was the Chief Nurse at the 3rd General Hospital in Algeria, Italy, and France; Private First Class George Curtis, who served with the 8th Infantry Division in the European Theater of Operations; Hospital Apprentice John ‘Jack’ Davis, who served in the Pacific Theater of Operations; and Private Joe Donnelly who was a Marine in the 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion in South Carolina.;Personal correspondence sent to Ms. Bernice "Bunny" Bohlmann, who was a high school teacher in Baldwin, New York. Several of Bohlmann’s former students joined the Armed Forces during World War II and wrote to her during their service. The collection is arranged into seven series: I.
