Description: This series consists of 37 letters to Miss Bernice Bohlmann, Baldwin, New York, from five different students or family members whose surnames fall in the range of S-W. The senders are: Private Alex Shaldone, who was training at Camp Croft, South Carolina; Aviation Cadet Reginald Simes, Hondo Air Field, Texas; Private First Class Marshall M. Sperber, who served with the 136 Stationary Hospital in the European Theater of Operations; Fireman First Class Robert Warren, who served with the 92nd Construction Battalion in the Pacific Theater of Operations; and Second Lieutenant Robert Winberg who served in the Army Air Force in the Pacific Theater of Operations.;Personal correspondence sent to Ms. Bernice "Bunny" Bohlmann, who was a high school teacher in Baldwin, New York. Several of Bohlmann’s former students joined the Armed Forces during World War II and wrote to her during their service. The collection is arranged into seven series: I.
