Description: This series (2 folders) consists of military correspondence from the service of Lieutenant Clare Beatty. The bulk of the series consists of orders sent to Beatty. Also included are a personnel file, a letter from James Forrestal, citations for excellent service through the assault and capture of Iwo Jima and Okinawa, and postwar documents. There are several instances within the series of an original document including two or more reproductions. Also included is a laminated Northern and Southern Hemisphere star identifier.;Military correspondence and photographs from the service of Lieutenant Clare Beatty, who was the commanding officer of the USS Presque Isle (APB-44), formerly the LST-678, in the Pacific Theater of Operations. The collection is arranged into two collections: I. Military correspondence, 1942-1954 and II. Photographs.
