Scrapbook of correspondence from Lieutenant Colonel Eberhard Deutsch, England, France, Italy and Austria, to his wife, Rhea Deutsch, New Orleans, in addition to other correspondence, photographs, newspaper clippings, and ephemera such as programs for theater performance. Newspaper clipping about the war crimes conference in London; menu for the Savoy Hotel restaurant; Deutsch left for Paris on 3 June 1945, then travelled to Naples; from there he flew to Verona via Bologna; Rhea Deutsch's work in New Orleans with the Opera Association, Symphony, and Little Theater; Deutsch's submission of an article on military government to the American Bar Association Journal; photograph of Deutsch and three other officers in St. Mark's Square, Vienna, on 11 June 1945; map of Hitler's retreat in Obersalzberg with photographs of Deutsch and other officers on the reverse, with newspaper clipping indicating that these photographs were taken in front of Leni Riefenstahl's home in the Austrian Alps; Deutsch arrived in Salzburg on 14 June 1945; several letters written on stationery from the office of the former Nazi Governor of Salzburg; Army newsletter with quote from Deutsch about the mission of the Legal Division officers in Austria; several pages of postcards from Salzburg; Deutsch's travels through Austria, attending to trials and other legal matters, throughout June and July 1945; clippings from German-language papers in Austria; photographs of Deutsch in Austria, with pressed flowers; accounts of several trials in which Deutsch participated.
