- Summary:
- "Plural looks : Belgian art and communist utopia in the 20th ecentury recalls that artists are also citizens, that they participate in the life of society, adhere to opinions and political movements. Through a richly documented background, the exhibition attempts an approach to the different forms and pictorial tendencies invested by close Belgian artists, sympathizers or influenced by communist utopia. Some wanted their works to reflect an engagement immediately visible to all; others, on the contrary, invested their dreams, melancholy or irony. The diversity of the works produced in this context rejects the idea that communism would be linked to a single aesthetic orientation. These are plural looks that reveal the works of the sixty artists represented here."--Musées & Expos website.
