- Summary:
- This crucial period in Bolivian history includes the last part of the military government of President Gualberto Villarroel, to which the U.S. government was opposed. This collection also documents the rise of the Movimiento Nacionalista Revolucionario and the 1949 rebellion as well as the 1952 revolution led by the MNR, one of the great 20th-century social revolutions. It includes information on why the U.S. decided to support the MNR government despite its revolutionary nature and provides much information about the most vigorous phase of the Bolivian revolution, including the mining nationalizations and the agrarian reform of 1953.
