- "Mimi: The Perilous Journey of a Free-Spirited Texas Woman features a Texas debutante who is the niece of Texas Senator John Tower and who became the lover of Mexican drug mafioso Pablo Acosta Villareal. After losing her mother at a young age and experiencing a horrific accident on a lake, Mimi went to school in California, where she met a handsome and intelligent man she would marry. They settled in Dallas, Texas, where she finished her art history and ceramics degrees at Southern Methodist University. Later, moving to Houston, Mimi organized a monumental sculpture exhibition featuring established and up-and-coming artists of the 1970s. She caught the eye of art critics and collectors, establishing herself in this highly competitive world. A trip with future Texas governor Ann Richards to Big Bend in 1976 cemented her love for Far West Texas. This adventure led Mimi to purchase a ranch in Mexico near Lajitas, Texas. Pivoting in her career from Houston to the Big Bend, Mimi soon found herself caught up in romances with drug dealers, including the notorious Pablo Acosta Villareal of Netflix's Narcos Mexico fame. After a shoot-out that left Pablo dead, Mimi became in danger. She moved to California, where she was unknown. There, Mimi reinvented herself as a casting agent.
