Summary:
In this video, Prof. Sachs talks about needing new forms of governance and global cooperation. In a world of environmental threats and widening inequalities, sustainable development that sees economic prosperity combined with social inclusion and environmental sustainability is necessary. This is the triple bottom line of smart, fair, and sustainable economies, and these ideas led to the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals by the United Nations in September, 2015. Sachs gives an outline of the 17 goals and what is necessary to meet them. Prof. Sachs ends this chapter with a discussion of the challenges of our time, population growth, and fertility rates.
