- Summary:
- Tom Fowler's play Hope has a Happy Meal is a surreal and frenetic quest through a hyper-capitalist country, premiered at the Royal Court Theatre, London, on 3 June 2023. The play opens with Hope, a passenger on an aeroplane, telling us a joke in an attempt to distract herself from her rising sense of panic. She is returning, after many years away, to the People's Republic of Koka Kola - a world of dwindling resources, corruption and corporate giants. She has come back to find something she left behind. The premiere production was directed by Lucy Morrison and designed by Naomi Dawson. It was performed by Laura Checkley, Mary Malone, Amaka Okafor, Nima Taleghani and Felix Scott.
