- Summary:
- This book "Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19): Scientific & Legal Approach" provides a holistic overview of recent COVID-19, a pandemic disease caused by a novel coronavirus named as SARS-CoV-2. The text shares information related to a biological disaster COVID-19, its pandemic outbreak, infection, symptoms, spread, prevention, disinfection, immunodiagnostic testing, treatment, emergency control measures, international and national legal approach, policies and laws introduced, amended time to time and government steps for the public health. It also highlights specific measures for successful prevention and control of COVID-19 in India. This was achieved through the use of emergency control measures in the epidemic areas and integration of resources from multiple sectors including health, mass media, transportation, education, public affairs, and defense. The success is attributed to various best practices which are implemented days before the thought of nationwide lockdown was incepted. These measures could provide useful learning for other countries. This book explains the legal framework under International law; especially the Constitution of World Health Organisation prescribed articles which can be helpful to other member countries fighting a legal battle against China. The Govt. of China, being the country where an outbreak took place have grossly violated WHO regulations of making timely notification and information sharing obligations by suppressing material facts from WHO and the World. It also raises an important question of China's vicious act in spreading this biological war (China violated the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC), which came into force on March 26, 1975) and law suit filed by various countries and explains the grounds & legal prudence behind the same. The book is useful for common men, teachers, policy makers, lawyers, researchers and students of all disciplines.
