Summary:
The present volume is a comprehensive analytical study of the plays and theatrical art of Vijay Tendulkar with the focus on the process of decolonization of Indian theatre, Indian English drama moved in the direction of exploring new theme and innovative theatrical strategies probing into the hidden and complex pattern of human consciousness. In this volume in the different chapters, the efforts have been made to explore the perpetual clash of human sensiblity with the oppressive burden of the controversial issues like gender prejudice, corruption in politics, Lesbian relationhsip, Caste discrimination and the commercialization of Press and Personal Relationship. Besides of these thematic concerns, each play has been investigated to explore Tendulkar's dexterity in maingling western dramatic theories and strategies. With theis fusion of the East and West Tendulkar's identity has been established as a new voice in Indian theatre. The present volume will be milestone to open new possibilities of critical insight in the plays of Vijay Tendulkar.
