- Summary:
- Regional Electric Cooperative (REC) produces electricity for its member/owners in a southeast region of the United States. REC is having problems with member dissatisfaction and decreasing operational effectiveness, due in part to the board members' lack of qualifications in an increasingly complex industry. While the characteristics of effective board members in publicly owned firms have been extensively researched, the setting of cooperative organizations is very different from that of publicly owned firms. How can you use this knowledge of effective boards to help REC recruit more qualified board members in an environment that differs greatly from that of publicly owned firms in terms of CEO-board dynamics?
