- Summary:
- In 2009, Domino's was struggling financially and facing a food safety crisis. With few realistic options to improve its standing, the pizza chain chose to be honest, transparent, and accountable. Rather than make excuses for its shortfalls, the company launched a campaign apologizing for the insufficient quality of its pizza and promising to do better. With the messaging portion of the campaign came a complete strategy transformation that included the company's chefs recreating its pizza. Domino's quickly saw the positive impacts of the Pizza Turnaround campaign, which led to financial growth and the brand soaring to the top of the chain pizza industry. Through this case, students will be asked to understand the importance of Image Repair Theory and examine Domino's Pizza Turnaround campaign.
