- Summary:
- Nagad is a digital payment platform and a public-private partnership between the Bangladesh Postal Department and private investors. Due to Nagad's capacity to conduct transactions without using traditional banking institutions, their mobile financial services have grown in popularity in Bangladesh, particularly in rural regions. However, worries about consumer protection have also been sparked by the quick expansion of digital financial services. Nagad has come under fire for some of their practices. Despite several initiatives, no regulations of the legal framework exist to oversee excessive discounts and international e-commerce, such as that provided by Nagad. As mobile financial services develop further in Bangladesh, market expansion and consumer protection must be balanced. Students will be asked to evaluate the effectiveness of the current regulatory framework for anti-money laundering and countering financing of terrorism, propose enhancements to corporate governance, and develop risk management strategies applying the financial forensics techniques to identify suspicious financial transactions.
