- Summary:
- Tony Allen sat in his office, reflecting on the conversation he had just had with Spencer, his Chief Technology Officer (CTO), about Greenlight. For the past three years, Tony had poured his heart into Greenlight, an automated vehicle monitoring service that combined telematic devices with a smartphone application to help people monitor the health of their vehicles in real time. When the Greenlight device detected an issue requiring attention, it would alert the owner and help connect them with their preferred service provider. Tony had conducted numerous customer interviews, developed multiple prototypes, and even pitched his idea to investors, all with positive results. He believed Greenlight could revolutionize vehicle maintenance for both drivers and service providers, but he was still trying to figure out the best way to bring his idea to market. He identified three potential pathways to commercialization: Business-to-business (B2B), business-to-customer (B2C), or a hybrid of both. Despite the uncertainties that remained, Tony knew it was time to decide.
