In this data challenge, students will work with a dataset from a salty snack category. The data incorporates various brands from multiple locations and store types along with types of sales promotion along with the amount associated with each type of sales promotion activity. The data covers two years organized by week. Students should perform descriptive analysis while using Excel; alternatively, statistical software can be used instead. Pivot tables allow the students to simultaneously explore the relationship between two variables. Junior- and Senior-level students should be able to calculate financial ratios and differences while exploring simultaneous relationships between two variables. All students should be able to provide a managerial recommendation regarding the promotion activity among different potato chip brands.
