Summary:
Set in 2023, this Data Challenge for undergraduate and graduate students explores the desire and passion of Fred Reader-Silk (affectionately known as RS) and his ambition to expand his business, Blue Case Foldable Bikes (BCFB), into the Southeast Asian market. RS has a dilemma in that he is presenting at the next board meeting, which is in 1 month, and he has no evidence to suggest that his idea of expansion is doable and commercially viable. Therefore, to accelerate the proposal down the track (this is his style), RS has tasked a new intern, Clementine Bougey, with identifying any interesting data that may offer useful insights into his vision to expand. Originally, Clementine was considered for a marketing role within the small social media team. However, RS thought that she would do well in this new role, too. Time is of the essence, and Clementine has just 1 month to prepare and deliver a report (to the best of her ability) to equip RS with the relevant information he needs to present to the board at the next opportunity. Clementine decides on a secondary data approach due to the pressing deadline and conducts a quick thematic and statistical analysis for qualitative and quantitative data, respectively. Ideally, this Data Challenge would be taught as part of a wider course such as business management.
