The Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Data Challenge provides an opportunity for students to understand the impact of small, incremental decisions on an entity's brand. Presented with an opportunity to ideate a "Going Green" campaign comprised of multiple initiatives, students will craft a recommendation that aligns with the protagonist, Fatima Alvarez, and her environmentalist values that she wants to integrate into her professional legacy as Mayor of Richmond, Virginia.Students are asked to select the top consultant as the lead for the Going Green Task Force, assess which projects best align with Mayor Alvarez's brand and budget, and craft a persuasive proposal with recommendations Alvarez could present to the city's stakeholders. To complete this task, students are supplied with overviews for each consultant, project overviews (including expenses and timelines), and other considerations to support making a sound recommendation. This Data Challenge is recommended for undergraduate Entrepreneurship, Introduction to Business, Nonprofit Management, New Ventures classes, and any related courses. Basic business knowledge would be useful, but no specific information is required for students prior to beginning this Challenge.
