- Summary:
- This Data Challenge presents students with a multifaceted analysis task centered on two anonymized datasets sourced from the hospitality sector, specifically, customer reviews. The primary dataset captures guest reviews only and the secondary dataset adds to this by incorporating additional reviewer information including age range and their reasons for visiting. Students engaged in this Data Challenge will navigate through a twofold analysis exercise. First, the primary data involves data preparation, sentiment analysis at both review and word levels, and creating visual representations elucidating prevalent sentiments. Second, they shall engage with the augmented (secondary) dataset, leveraging the additional metadata to uncover deeper insights into reviewer types, rating distributions, and their nuanced interplay with expressed sentiments. A working knowledge of Python is essential for students to conduct the Data Challenge effectively, as it equips them with a versatile and powerful tool for problem-solving and data analysis. Through this Data Challenge, students will gain practical experience in sentiment analysis techniques, data interpretation, and communication skills essential for conveying data-driven insights to stakeholders. Moreover, this Data Challenge will instill a strategic mindset in students by fostering their ability to leverage data for informed decision-making. The hotel name used is fictitious, and the data sets are a combination of anonymized and fictitious data.
