- Summary:
- This Data Challenge explores the strategic decisions that accompany multiple pricing options for a new, innovative custom product for an athletic equipment company. In this Challenge, students will use and apply strategic pricing with product details, such as variable costs, unit contribution, and cost-based pricing. They will also assess market details, such as market potential and competitive environment. The numeric examples in EXCEL will expose students to the complexity of different factors and scenarios that a new product team must consider when entering a competitive environment with a new product. Students will use the data to determine pricing options and their impacts. Given this information and their analysis of the options, students will choose a pricing strategy to recommend. They will create a presentation outlining revenues and profit contributions for each pricing situation, using benchmark pricing, penetration and everyday low pricing, skimming, demand-based pricing, and cost-plus pricing, defending the type of pricing strategy they have chosen.
