- Summary:
- This Data Challenge provides students with an opportunity to evaluate the financial performance of a publicly listed company, Peloton, in the connected fitness industry. Students will be presented with the financial data that the company filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on its initial public offering (IPO) when it listed in 2019. A second set of data for 2023 also will be shared. Students will compute and analyze key performance ratios and evaluate the impact on the company's financial performance of decisions to grow through different strategies. A scenario will sketch the strategic and organizational decisions as well as contextual issues that the company had to manage prior to and immediately after the pandemic. In addition to the firm background and history, students will receive information on the rise of connected devices in the fitness and health industries as well as industry benchmark data on which to base their evaluation of Peloton's performance.
