Summary:
This data challenge explores the assessment of customer lifetime value (CLV) for a nonprofit organization. Students will use donor details, such as the number of years of donation and the amount donated per year, while also considering the organization's costs, such as donor acquisition costs and donor maintenance expenses. Using these numeric examples, students are asked to create a customer lifetime value of distinct types of donors. Given this information, students must also create and present a donor acquisition (marketing) strategy for the nonprofit based on the type(s) of donors that are most lucrative for the organization. Several additional concepts, such as the time-value of money and organizational expenses and capabilities, can be used to defend or explain strategic choices of donor value.
