Summary:
Thousands of protestors took to the streets in Iran over the government's poor economic record. What started on December 28th as electronics vendors in Tehran's markets put-out by the cost of imports erupted into mass protests across the country come January. Two weeks into the demonstrations, to quell the dissent, the regime's henchmen killed thousands of its citizens. The problems they face persist. Economic growth remains stagnant and inflation runs high. Iranians blame this on elites whose grip on power looks increasingly wobbly.
