Summary:
This case, a companion to "Royal Phoenix: Analysis of Credit Quality," draws on the same narrative to demonstrate acceptable methods for credit analysts when analyzing a target company's financial risk profile based on publicly accessible audited financial statements. Palak, a recent MBA graduate, has been hired as a credit analyst at a medium-sized commercial bank in the Navy Mumbai zone, India. She has received a loan request from Aryan, a young motorcycle dealer (Royal Phoenix Pvt. Ltd), who just relocated his showroom. He plans to expand his business by introducing the amusement motorcycle but needs an extra INR 50 million working capital loan to cover the day-to-day operations of his showroom. Because of the forthcoming general election in his country in May 2024, Aryan is getting more concerned about his loan request, and he needs a speedy response to relocate his showroom or will contact other banks if required. Without the needed finance, Aryan is unsure if he can continue to operate his young venture, Royal Phoenix. With a recent spike in loan demands from new and old clients, Palak has limited time to decide on the loan proposal for Aryan. Discipline: Bank Management and Financial Service, Financial Management, Risk Management, Business & Management Skills.
