- Summary:
- ThreadVast Ltd., a global apparel manufacturer, has invested heavily in corporate social responsibility initiatives. Although initial internal analysis provided insight into how these factors relate to the company's valuation, the board seeks a broader perspective. Board members want to know not just how ThreadVast performs in isolation but also how it stacks up against peers and the industry as a whole. This Data Challenge requires students to analyze the influence of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) ratings on corporate valuation. It further challenges students to incorporate competitor and industry measures to analyze performance. To accomplish this, students will explore whether the relative ESG score leadership offers more explanatory power than stand-alone ESG scores while controlling for operational and market factors such as earnings per share, revenue growth, supply-chain incidents, and market capitalization. In this Data Challenge, students must integrate statistical analysis with qualitative information to address a question, interpret the results, and communicate the findings clearly.
