Summary:

The author's intention is to study the patient, investigating his feelings and his role in the context of tuberculosis. To this end, he unveils the disease, specialists, institutions and social relations related to the white plague in Brazil in the first fifty years of the last century. Interesting for health professionals, historians and anyone interested in the human focus on the history of tuberculosis, this book discusses the construction of ideas about the disease in Brazil, analyzing individual and collective behaviors.
