- This book presents the complete history of Nalanda College (a leading school in Colombo) including its prehistory on how the school was started in 1920s, Nalanda College as a leading institute for Buddhist studies, involvement of Buddhist monks in the college and their contributions in bringing up the college, how the branch of Ananda College (another leading school in Colombo) became Nalanda College, challenges faced during this transition, its early locations, Mahatma Gandhi's visit, tenures of various principals including the very first principal S. Kularatne, alumini associations, monk students, political incidents, student leaders, cadets and tri-force of Nalanda College, historic event where tri-force commanders in a row were the products of Nalanda College, scout movement of Nalanda College marked a special history in the island, college's part in bring the British cricket strategy to Sri Lanka, it's cricket commentaries, scientific knowledge and initiatives of the college, achievements, its involvement in cinema, art, language and literature, performing arts, and so forth. The author has spent 5 years in this study and hopes to take up a 2nd edition in the future to fill the gaps in this history.
