- Summary:
- "Beyond Expectations..." is an acknowledgment as well as a celebration of the many alumni of Morristown College who made outstanding contributions from local to internationsl levels. They contributed much more than what was anticipated at a time when American society expected so little of them. The vast majority of the alumni came from working class families while others came from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. Only expected to perform in low-wage, menial occupations, most overcame to succeed in higher-status professions related to the ministries, educations, the sciences, and the arts among others. Some alumni developed expertise within the various trades while others became competitive in all levels of athletics. A number of Morristown College alumni became nationally / internationally known where they shared their skills with communities across the globe. "Beyond Expectations..." tells what is possible when individuals, regardless of background, are nurtured and encouraged to achieve. (---back cover of book)
