- Summary:
- Hobbema, Alberta is home of the Muskwachees First Nation, and one of the most notorious reserves in Canada. Riddled with evidence of gang violence, substance abuse and social dysfunction, Hobbema is not entirely without hope or positive role modeling. Three women in particular have dedicated their lives to making this community a better place: RCMP officer Courtney Reich, who overcame childhood domestic abuse and her own teen pregnancy; EMT Stephanie Buffalo, who survived a horrific roll-over accident in her ambulance on the way to a call; and firefighter and long-time resident Vanessa Nepoose, whose was on call to respond to both her cousin's suicide and her father's cardiac arrest. These women work on Hobbema's front lines, and they – more than anyone – can speak to the traumas, hope and progress of a community struggling to heal.
