- Summary:
- Publisher description: "In 2000, Helmut Koziol had the idea of organising a Conference where tort law specialists from various European legal systems met and present the latest tort law developments in their jurisdiction. Their reports could then be published annually for readers in order to keep them abreast of the tort law developments in Europe. This idea was brought to life when the first Annual Conference on European Tort Law was held in Vienna in 2001, and was later followed by the publication of the first European Tort Law Yearbook. By starting this project, Helmut initiated much more than just a Conference series and a collection of Conference Proceedings: he initiated a network of tort law enthusiasts from all over Europe – and some beyond – who meet regularly, exchange their views, discuss new and open questions and enrich each other’s perspectives. Over time, many of the former and current country reporters have grown into what we tend to call our tort law family. We are very happy to celebrate our 25th anniversary this year and decided to mark this occasion by publishing the current book, which collects five landmark tort decisions issued over the course of these 25 years in each of the many jurisdictions involved. The authors would like to dedicate this book to Helmut Koziol. I am extremely grateful to all reporters for their contributions. Special thanks go to Vera Bolmgren, who agreed to fill in for our Swedish reporter Sandra Friberg at short notice, when Sandra could not submit her contribution due to an injury. I would also like to thank the ECTIL and ETL team. Without their tremendous support (as ever), this book would not have been possible. All the team members in some way or another contributed to the project. In particular, I would like to express my gratitude to Rafael Cimiotti Elias and Adyasha Samal for their support in coordinating the project and preparing it for publication. Moreover, I am grateful to Kathrin Karner-Strohbach for taking care of the copy-editing in her meticulous way. Finally, special thanks go to Donna Schoenhuber, who took charge of language-checking all the contributions and helped to make them easily accessible for the readers. Heartfelt thanks also to my team at the University of Graz, particularly Alexander Aichmayr, Simon Gartner, Lilian Kern and Valerie Schwarz. Last but not least, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the University of Graz for supporting the open access publication of the current book.
