- Summary:
- Annotation These 28 papers presented at the American Society for Testing and Materials symposium held in June 1998 are organized by the major session topics of instrumentation associated with: soil structure interaction, monitoring landfills, and monitoring settlement and stability; and field data acquisition and data management. Case studies introduce the unique problems associated with soil interaction instrumentation and construction monitoring programs installed in urban areas. Four papers are specific to geotechnical instrumentation of landfills. Several authors discuss developments in instrumentation automation involving fiber optic sensors, satellite technology, and geographic information systems; Boston's Central Artery/Tunnel Project is a case in point. Durham and Marr are with private enterprises in the field. Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR.
