- "Igereka, the first story, centres around a powerful king and the inheritance of his kingdom -- an issue which in Africa is often embroiled in traditional beliefs and where the consultation of seers and prophets is not uncommon. The story opens with a prediction of an oracle which threatens the king's future through his inheritance. The rest of it is about his efforts in trying to circumvent this prediction which results in the introduction of Igereka -- the main character -- through thom the prophecy is fulfilled."--Afterword, page 151.
